Little Thelina Flaniicn. Mrs. Slarr.ey Addie Jenkins. Hilda Revel Ada Guildford. In "The .Angel of His Dreams," which was produced at the Opera House last evening, the author spuming all notions of unconvontijnnlity, harks back to the "good old drama." It is a sad tale of woe, in which a bright young parson is beguiled into a compromising position wilh a sweet young woman, who shoots lier lawful spouse, and pushes tho remains into the cold, dark river, which she persists in stating is.swollen to double its usual size. Not knowing that she was married, and had "done the deed," the foolish parson marries the girl, to save her from ignominy, and in tho process jilts his own true love, who is buoyed up in her trouble by n fine philosophic sense and a plenitude of this world's goods. Safely married to the pastor the sweet young woman, who is quick on the trigger, takes to brandy and drags her clerical spouse down to the depths until he is forced to write sermons for other men to preach—an awful fate. Finally the police find tho skeleton of the murdered man, get a clue, and run the woman to earth, just as she expires from rough treatment received at the hands of her original father-in-law. She dies confessing, and'the parson clasps his old fiancee once more to his breast, and all is well. Miss Ada Guildford did a good (leal of work as the remorse-stricken woman that was "worthy of a better foundation, and inspired several of the scenes with something like realism. Mr. Herbert Bentley grappled gallantly with the woes of tho Rev. Christian Esdaile, and Jlr. CJ. R. Stanford played tho .scoundrelly Major Dudley Ferrars with a bland benevolence and absence of ultra-theatricalism that was quietly convincing. Assisted by a red scratch wig Mr. T. Curran extracted much laughter as Sam Tippett. and as an excellent foil, Jlr. P. V. Scully made Sir Francis Treparthen a very solemn stagey old gentleman. Hiss Lily Wiseman was distinctly bright as Bessie. Sparkles, and littla Thelma Flanigan acted intelligently as Lulu Esdaile. "The Angel of His Dreams" will see out the week On Monday next the company will appear in "Nick Carter, the Detective," "and will conclude the season on the following Saturday with "East Lynne." -■
