IMPERIAL PROBLEMS.
SIR J. WARD'S VIEWS. SYDNEY PRESS COMMENTS. ' By Tolesraph—Press Association-Oopyriirlit Sydney, April 26. Tho "Sydney Morning Herald," commenting on Sir Joseph Ward's remarks to a London interviewer (published in yesterday's Dominion - ), states: "Relieved of its rhetoric, Sir Joseph Ward's proposal claims for Australia and New Zealand equality with tho Motherland in all the complex detail of direction of tho Empire. The claim is beyond our rights and powers. It' Britain falls, wo fall; therefore, we have not tho right, and this proposed equality is beyond our power. In, spite of our development we can do little (o help Britain in her tremendous task; the intricacies of foreign relationship, delicately balanced around the whirlpool centre of Europe, are especially beyond the function of the Dominion, which will be on the outskirts for a long time to come. The best help we could render would be to help ourselves."
