Doig, of the Sixth Battalion, Seaforlh Highlanders, is a passenger for London bv the Knapehu to-day. Captain Doig arrived in Wellington by the Tongariro on I'cbriiarv 7, and has spent'the intervening time, in travelling in various parts of New Zealand. The new rank of detective-sergeant has been conferred on the following officers:— Detectives Campbell (Greymouth), ll'Mahon and M'llveney (Auckland), Cooney (Thames'!, Boddam (Now Plymouth), and Siddells (Wnngainii). The promotions take effect from May 1. Captain Hamilton, Infantry .Brigade Major, Wellington Military District, has been granted six months' leave of absence on urgent private business. Kix-Trott, formerly enginesr to the Hutt Boroueli Council, has joined tho staff of the Public AVorlcs Department. He will be employed oil the Government irrigation works in Central Otsgo.
