INSTITUTE OF JOURNALISTS.
WELLINGTON BRANCH. Tho annual meeting of members of the Wellington Branch of the New Zealand Journalists' Institute was held at the "New Zealand Times" Office !a;,,t evening, tho president (Mr. Fred. J. Earlo) being in the chair. The annual report and balance-sheet were adoptee!. The balance-sheet showed the branch to be in a flourishing condition financially. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Chairman, Mr. EmiloSchwabe; lion, secretary, Mr. W. A. Walsh; lion, treasurer, Mr. T. H. N Beasley: committee, Messrs. H. T. 13. Drew, S. V. Bracher, P. White, R. C. Harding, J. Oakley Browne, F. Marshall, F. K. Reeves, M. L Reading, and H. l'limmer.
At a special meeting held just prior to the annual mtctiiiß, tho question of establishing a prriodie:il, to be called tho "New Zealand Journalist," was discussed. Mr. F. J. F.arle was thanked for his efforts in ih<; matter, and ho was authorised, in conjunction with the council of the Institute, to commence to issue the ceriodical.
