CHURCH AND STATE IN PORTUGAL. THE GOVERNMENT BILL, By Telegraph—Press Assoriation-CopyriEht Lisbon, April 21. The Church Disestablishment Bill abolishes the taxes paid for the maintenance of parish priests, and legacies for church services are forbidden. A third of the present receipts of clerical societies is to be applied to public charities. All religious services are to be under the supervision of the State officials, and only Portuguese ordained clergy are to conduct services.
