HUTT FIRE BRIGADES.

Tho annual competition amongst members of the llntt Valley Fire Brigades for tho Baldwin Cup, was held on the Hutt Recreation Ground on Saturday afternoon. Six teams entered—three from the Gear Company, hvo from tho Railway Workshops, and one from Lower Hutt. Alter a very exciting contest, the Gear Company's No. 1 team won the cup event, (he time, 38 I-.lmc, being adjudged ex. eellent. The Hutt loam ran second, (heir time being ■!() seconds. The names of the winning team lire: Firemen Smith, List, and Pollock, and those of the Hutt team Captain Slinn and Firemen Collett and llobman. Collett and Hobman (Hutt) won the two-men coupling ovent, The officers for tho clay were: Judges, Capt, Cater, and Ex-Fireman F. Featherstonc; timekeepers, Fireman Wood and Mr. F. Jeimtvs; sliirlcr, Mr. 1 , . R. Purser. Afternoon tea was supplied by the Indies 0/ Lower Uutt.
