SUNDAY ENTERTAINMENTS.
.Sir,—ln view of powers vested in city councils by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, by which a council can alter and amend its by-laws, it is reasonable to ask candidates what attitude they will take towards the administration of By-Law 373, relating to tho use of tho Town Hall and other halls in the city on the Sunday. The question was asked on behalf of the Ministers' Association, collectively and as individuals. The replies of several candidates aro given and appreciated. Some candidates apparently have difficulty in replying to a communication because "it deals with religious or semi-religious questions," and comes from "tho Ministers' Association." Would the candidates give a straight answer to the question as if it came, irom individual electors? If timo and opportunity permitted, I would ask each candidate in this way to reply to the question stated above. To those ■who have replied, sincere thanks are given.—l am, etc., WILLIAM SHIRER, St. James's Manse, Wellington South. April 21, 191.
