MARKETING OF MOTUEKA FRUIT. The first annual meeting of the Motucka Fruitgrowers' .Association was held oil Wednesday. In its report of the proceedings ■ the "Mail" Saysj—"A long discussion ensued with regard to the methods. adopted in marketing fruit, and the present unsatisfactory anil limited'intelligence that growers have as to the prico conditions prevailing at any time. Referring to the market in Wellington, it\was stated that when there was a rise in price, .after a period of low .jates, it was usual for the auctioneers there to issue a circular telegram, to ing shipments, tho consequence being tho result was'often disastrous, as individual growers cach acted on the information furnished, and the market became oversupplied, "down came prices again,' and this complained of in the future. Tho president said it was not the fault of the auctioneers, tout of 'ourselves,' as the growers had no provision whatever for regulating the supply- of markets.- He submitted a scheme to the meeting as.a means to provide., against the trouble complained of. in" the future." ! ' v.. . ;It -was. resolved . .that a special meeting shotild be held to consider the scheme for the co-operativo handling and marketing fruit. SVVEETBRIAR. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) BTenheim, April 20. A number of cases were heard to-day in which settlers were charged with failing to eradicate siveetbriar. Two cases were dismissed and tho others adjourned, to aIlo;vr : evidence to :ba called for the*"purpose' of "distinguishing between sweetbriar and dogrose. ' '
