OVERTIME QUESTION. THE QUEEN'S THOUGHTFULNESS.' By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. April 21, 0.15 a.m.) London, April 20. Replying to a deputation of women's societies protesting to the Home Office agaiust the proposed order to permit dressmakers to extend their hours of work in May and June in view of the Coronation. Mr. Masterman (Parliamentary UnderSecretary) stated that the Queen had made special arrangements to prevent overtime being worked on her dresses. Mr. Masterman said lie wished everyone would bo similarly considerate, and promised to reconsider the order.
