PRECAUTIONS AGAINST PLAGUE.
| A DUNEDIN CONFERENCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Dunedin, April 20. A conference between representatives of the City Council, the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, the Drainage Board, the Harbour Board; aud t lie Health- Department was held this afternoon to consider what steps should be taken to prevent the introduction of plague into the city. In the cunrsc of a lengthy discussion, the importance of a vigorous crusade against rats was emphasised, also tlio ueed for a, general clearing up of premises in the city and suburbs. It was mentioned that a number of dilapidated houses were still standing, and that the City Council had met with several rebuffs in its efforts to have them demolished. It was decided that a house-to-house inspection bo put into operation as soon as possible, the cost to lie boruo by the City Council, the Hospital Board, * the Drainage Board, and the- Harbour Board.
