ASSAULT ON THE CENSUS PAPERS

' COMPILATION NOT EASY. It is not anticipated that tho I work will bo in full swing before the' beginning of next month, and it is al- • most impossible to say when it will be! completed, as so many things can happen i to delay the staff. The kind bf diffilii 1 contended with is as iollowsj—A farmer states in ono that he lias 75 acres of land. in the columns showing how tlm land is used, he makos his total acreaso work out at 115, by filling in tho form iti the following fashion-.-Oats, 30 acres? turnips, 25. acrcs; mangolds, 10 acres; gra*s, 50 acres. The full staff of seventy will not bo' taken on at once, but will bo employed & few at a time as tho work increases.
