The Hon. .T. Carroll is in Auckland, the Hon. J. A. Millar will be returning 'to Wellington to-day, the Hon. G. Fowlds is at Rotorua, the Hon. D.' Buddo at Christchurch, the Hon. R; M'Konzie in Wellington, the Hon. A. T. Ngata at Gisborne, the Hon. T. Mackenzie iu Otago. The Hon. D. Buddo went south last evening. He will be in Christchurch for a day or two. Tho Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) is returning to Wellington from Dunedin this morning by the Ulimaroa. Jllr. Justice Cooper, who has been spending the Faster vacation in Auckland, is returning to Wellington by the Main Trunk express on Saturday. * Sir Jaines Mills was a passenger for Lyttelton by the Warrimoo yesterday afternoon. Bishop Wallis and Mrs. Wallis left for England by tho Arnwa yesterday afternoon. There was a largo crowd on the Glasgow Wharf to bid them n final goodbye, including a number uf local mid visiting clergy. Mr. Algar Williams (of Messrs. Barr, Leary, and Williams) has returned from a visit lo Auckland. The copy of a resolution passed by the Harbour Board, marking tno retirement from the board of Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.i\, was forwarded to that gentleman yesterday. It notes the valuable services rendered during his membership of eleven years, and i'or the two years he acted as 'chairman. At a meeting of the llataitai Ratepayers' Association last evening the president, Mr. Leigh Hunt on behalf ot the local residents, presented Mr. J. L. Arcus, secretary, with a handsome memento in recognition of tie work which lie had rendered to the association and to residents generally during the past year. Included among the passengers who left by tho Araw a for London yesterday wore Captains R. St. J. llecre and Klingendor, Lieuts. A. il. Burn and 11. Garland. Lieut.-Colonel I'. W. Abbott and Sergt.Mnjor Veitcli were also passengers in- the vessel. Dr. W. J. Muckay ha.s been appointed superintendent and medical officer to the Lunatic Asylum at Nelson. Dr. St. Lefer H. Gribben has been appointed an inspector of asylums, hospitals, and licensed houses iii the Dominion. Mr. James Brown has been appointed an inspector of factories. Dr. 1. R. Inglis, of Auckland, has been appointed to be a medical referee under tlio Workers' Compensation Act. Mr. Ernest U. I'arkcs, tho well-known baritone, who leaves for Auckland en Saturday, and is to bo farcwelled here this evening, has been engaged to sing at tho Auckland Orchestral Society's concerts on May 3 and 4. They expect to be away about four or five months sight-seeing and visiting friends. They were accorded a farewell "social" in (he Molesworth Street Schoolroom on Wednesday evening. A large number of friends and well-wishers were present.
