HARBOUR BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The final meeting of the Harbour Board as at present constituted was held last ,evening, Mr. R. Fletcher (chairman) presiding. Also present were: Messrs. H. C Tewsley, C. W. Jones, J. W. M'Ewan, C. Daniell, M. Cohen, F. G. Bolton, and W. IVHildreth. Leave of absence was granted Mr. T. M. Wilford. . The bank pass-books showed: Current account, credit, balance, ,£21,577 2s. 2d.; imprest account, credit balance, ,£920 Is. 9d.; on filed deposit, .£71,133 10s. The following payments were approved: —For . interest, accounts, and wages, .£12,565 17s. 10d.; for progress payments on contracts, .sCoSll 9s. 5d.; for salaries for April, .£783 11s. 3d.; total, .£19,19 C. 19s. M. The chairman reported, that the tender of Messrs: Dalgety and Company, Limited, Christchurch, for the supply of 357 tons of cut and punched steel hoops, and 10: tons of malleable cast iron studs for tho sum of .£3608 155., with deposit of .fijlft in lieu of sureties, had been accepted. That tho following tenders for the annual supplies and services had been accepted:—Coal, A ami B groups, New Zealand State Coal Mines; coal, C group, Brunner Coal Company, Limited; coal, D group, -Andrews and Lissiugton; removal of rubbish, F. Diamond.
Amendments to the board s by-laws submitted by the By-Laws' Revision Committee were- read, and, with slight amendments,- approved.
The action of the chairman in granting the engineer jjormission to co-operate vrith the City. Engineer in reporting on damage to' the Vacuum Oil Company's promises at Hutt Road was approved.Reporting from the board in committee, the chairman stated that the sinking funds accrued totalled £121,634 Ss. Ud. This was equivalent to £i 10s. 9d. per cent. On the motion of the chairman, the board placed on record its appreciation of the services rendered by three retiring members—the Hon. T. K. M.icdnnaid, and Messrs. T. 31. Wilford and F. G. Bolton. Mr. Fletcher mentioned that Mr. Macdonald had been a member for seven years, and chairman'for two years. Mr. Wilford had been a member'since 1300, and also had been chairman for two years. Mr. Bolion's membership extended over a period of three years.'
On the motion of Mr". Cohen,. Mr. Daniell seconding, the board placed on record, its appreciation of tho ability and courtesy displayed at all times by the chairman (Mr. R. Fletcher), and the nrofouml interest he had taken in the affairs of'the board.
