DR. MAWSON'S EXPEDITION. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, April 18. Dr. Charcot, the French Antarctic explorer, who returned to Franco last year, after an absence of two years in tho Antarctic regions, has offered to sell to Dr. Mawson (who purposes leading an Australian expedition South Polewards) his vessel Pourquoi Pas,. The doctor is willing to sell for .£Booo*. Dr. Mawson has. suggested, that the Government or, some philanthropist might seize the opportunity of presenting the vessel to Australia, especially as she is perfectly designed for a scientific ■ Polar exploration.
Tho Prince of Monaco will present Dr. Mawson's expedition with deep-sea dredging apparatus, and Lord Denman (Gov-cmor-General-clect'of .Australia) has promised a subscription.
