TO CONTROL PARLIAMENT.
MR. T. E. TAYLOR'S IDEA. i (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Christchurch, April 18. At the Trades and Labour Conference to-day, the chairman welcomed; Mr. T. B. Taylor, M.P., who said that ho was very pleased to see at work tho Parliament of Labour. Instead of passing resolutions asking for certain things from an Assembly largely hostile to the workers, he felt that they would soon be in a position to give effect to those things themselves. He believed that there was every prospect of an amalgamation of tho two largo Labour parties in New Zealand. Ho had learned that the miners of the West Coast collieries desired union. If they could get twelve Labour men in the House, they could control Parliament and do it more effectually than if they were on the Treasury benches. Ho believed that Labour had a splendid opportunity this year. The chairman of tho Miners' Federation (Mr. Webb) was also cordially welcomed' to the conference. ■
