The Rev. H. R. W. He was met at the railway, station by the churchwardens (Messrs. J. Honey and F. W. Hallett), the Revs. J. Pulliblank and Collett (curates), the Mayor (Mr.. W. E. Randall), and the headmaster of the Church Schools (Mr. Saloway), who officially welcomed him. There was also a largo number of the general public present, who.Rave a rousing reception to the popular rector. . A guard of honour of the Ist Bridport Troop of Boys' Scouts attended at the station, and was inspected by the- rector before entering the carriage to drive to the Rectory. Streamers were erected, over the roads in Barrack Street and South Street, and on.every side were evidences of the delight the churchpeoplo felt at having their rector home again. lii the evening a special thanksgiving service was, held in'the Parish Church, some 800 people being .present. An adjournment was subsequently made to the schools in .Gundry. Lane, where a large crowd had gathered. Mr. Honey, the people's warden, spoke of the good work done by the Mission in general and the- rector in particular, and then asked the. rector's acceptance of a beautifully-illuminated address expressive of the respect of the parish, its appreciation of his work, and best wishes for his future. • Mr. F. AV. Hallett (the rector's warden), then gave a stirring address, in which lie especially, alluded to the work of the rector in connection with the Church Schools. When ,the rector went away the alterations were only just begun, but now they were completed at a cost of .oyer SP3O, and. he had much pleasure in handing the receipted bills to the rector, eycr.v penny having been paid.. He .had/heard that the rector had had the dignity of a canonry conferred upon him, and that their address should have been headed "Canon Farrer." Miss Good then presented the rector with, a silk cassock and a purse of gold from the women of the parish. The rector, who- liad a"n enthusiastic reception, feelingly thanked the donors of tho gift for the kindly thought which prompted them. Ho gave a short account of the wonderful results of the Mission, and said how deeply toyched he was by the splondid homecoming welcome which had been extended to him.
