. . ■ , Wanganui, April 15. Adverse weather conditions have spoiled tlie holidays so far. Good Friday, tnou"h dry enough to enable outdoor fixtures to be got off, was a most disagreeable day, the sky being covered with gloomy clouds and the air being oppressively hot. In the evening heavy rain began to fall and co U : all t Saturday, completely stopping So far the Wanganui Tennis Association's annual tournament has not, practically speaking, got beyond the preliminary stages play being quite impossible on Saturday and it will take a deal of hustling to finish even late on Monday. Indeed, tho probabilities are that the tournament will extend to Tuesday. Iho annual contest for the Keesing Cup drew a goodly number of bowling enthusasts, the Wanganui, St. Johi/s, Feilding, Marten, and Waverley Clubs bein" represented. At the end of Friday's pa? Wenprani: and Feilding were in the lea.f, with-an equal number of points, and St Johns close up, but as thr.ee rounds' yet remain to be finished, tho result may be said to be anybodys. Play will be resumed on Monday, if fine A verly large number of Old Boys of the Collegiate .school arc at present 'in town having come to attend the annual Old Boys gathering, the first function of which took place this afternoon, when the Bishop of Wellington laid the foundation stqno of the new college chapel. This being practically Bishop Wallis's last offi cial act in New Zealand, a large number of people were present at the ceremonv as was also Hie case at tho service held in the old co lege chapel in the evening, when the Bishop preached an impressive sermon, having special reference to the afternoon s event. The chapel, which is H 10 ! °l , h P Old Boys, ivill cnst about ■ioOflO to build and will be finished practically free oi debt. Mr. N.- Meuli is the contractor for tho .erection of the college buildings, and will also erect the chapel beginning as soon as the main building have wen handed over. In addition to those brought hero by various athletic and other attractions there is also an exceptionally largo number of holiday-makers in town, and all the hotels and bonrdiiißhouscs nTC t aXo( j to their utmost. Railway traffic un nnd down the const and connecting with the Main Trunk lino has reached record proportions.
