KING'S FESTIVAL SPORTS.
On Saturday evening last the following fixtures wore drawn for the hig-of-war events to be held at the Town Hall in connection with the King's Festival Sports-.—To-night: Tramway v. Building Workers, and Druids' Association Team V. Cable's Foundry. Tuesday evening: Drivers v. Meat Export Company, and Miraiuar team v. Quarry team. Wednesday: Stapks's Brewery team v. Gear Company team, and Lower Hutt v. Pioneers. On Thursday evening the first round.will conclude with the Permanent. Artillery v. Petone, and on Friday evening a. start will bo made with the semi-finals. Seeing that some fourteen teams have entered for this contest, and some real live ones, it is anticipated that keen pulling should be ■witnessed. On Tuesday evening, the Marathon run ;to Island Bay tram terminus and return should prove to be an excellent event, as ■there are no fewer than sixteen entries, including all of Wellington's leading long- . distance runners. This event is sot down to start at 7.30 p.m. from the Town Hall, inhere it is hoped to get them away to lime, via Victoria Street, Clyde Quay, (Cent Terrace, and Adelaido Eoad, returning by same course. The home-trainpr cycle events should be .1 very novel item to the Wellington public, as it is some years ago since races of this class were held here; each rider will be given a certain time to ride, and jrhen all havo finished, the rider who has put up tbo greatest distance in a given timo will be awarded the prize. Besides all the athletic events, there will bo fancy dancing, iish ponds, Greek magician, tea Viosk, and numerous fancy stalls..
