ORGAN RECITAL.
The organ recital which was given at the Town Mall last evening hy Mr. Maughan Barnett (City Organist) was attended by a largo aiul thoroughly appreciative aiidionco. The programmi'. appropriate to the. season, was a very lino one,''oonsisting of selected items from noted composers. I'or his opening number the organist played the impressive and strikingly beautiful funeral march from Chopin's "Pianoforte Son ntii, Op. 32." Guilmant's "Lamcnt-i----tion" and Schubert's "Ave Maria," two well-known numbers, made a very charming bracket. These were succeeded by Wagner's celebrated "Trauermarsh" (Beini Todo Siegfried"), the sclemii funeral processional (in the opera "Gottordanimornng"), which follows the. death of the hero' in the third act. Wagner's dramatic genius is admirably demonstrated in this remarkable composition. The next number, a delicate. "Meditation" on twii "PasionTido" hymn tunes. "0 Come, Let us Mourn," and "When 1 Survey the Wondrous Cross"—was a worthy contribution to the programme. An appropriate excerpt from Wagner's "Parsifal." and the great "lnflainmatus" from Rossini'* "Stabat Mater," concluded the recital.
