CAMP CONFERENCE.

PRESBYTERIAN BIBLE CLASSES. The Presbyterian Young Men's Bible Class Union of New Zealand is holding its annual camp conference during; Easter. Tho camp, opened on 1 -Thursday night with tho arrival of the first instalment of some 90 hungry young athletes from all parts of the Dominion in a steady stream from 6.30 to . 12.30 p.m. It was in tho "wee sma' 'oors" before the last members were allotted their respective domiciles in "Canvastown." The site of tho camp is an ideal one enclosed in trees and bounded by the Hutt River on ono side, and the railway line on tho other, in the pretty grounds of Messrs. Kilminster and Speedy, at Belmont. Thursday night was a perfect one, and in tho moonlight the tents were a pretty sight among the trees. Tho camp arrangements are very complete. All tents are allotted before the arrival of their inmates. Athletic supremacy is to bo decided this afternoon. The. competition for the banner will be strenuous. St. John's, Lyttelton, under Mr. Laurenson, M.P., are represented by 33 members, and as this class holds tho banner at present, ptlicr classes' chances of wresting it from them are not of the rosiest. To-day is also "Ladies' Day," when a large number of visitors from all congregations, and also young ladies' classes, will grace the sports grounds, and acquaint themselves with Bible class members from Auckland to Invercargill. The day in past years has always been an outstanding feature of the camp. Yesterday morning it rained, but the tents stood tho test. Largo contingents arrived by every ' train throughout tho dav.

The morning meeting yesterday was taken by tho Bov. I). D. Scott, his subject being "Tho Power of Vivid Memories," which he dealt with in a very able and interesting manner, showing how a man's closing years may be made happy by tho reminiscences of a wollspout youth. The annual meeting of tho union (conference of delegates) was also held in tho forenoon, Mr. A. E. Creo (president), in the chair. The afternoon was opened by a mass .meeting, at which the Kcv. A. Thomson extended an official welcome to visiting members on. behalf of the 'Wellington district Presbytery. After this, the executive's report and balance-sheet were dealt with, the principal speakers being Mr. G. Laurcnson, M.P., Rev. Jas. Oibb, D.D., Messrs. A. M'Cullocli, Napier, (!. U. .Juyip travelling secretary of tlio union, C. T. Andrew, T. M. Crawford, E. P. Hay, and speakers from representative, classes. Tho subjects dealt witli were: The Question of an Additional Travelling Secretary, Missions, and Xo-Liccnse. The president also presented his address, which was brief, bright, antl inspiring. There- are forty-five tents neatly pegged out in rows of perfect alignment. Tho contractor for tho catering (300 hungry, healthy, vigorous, young , men) is Mr. Shout,' of Trcntbam. The tables are tastefully arranged with ofiowers, and altogether tho young men are exceedingly well provided for, and out for a real" good time.
