UNPLEASANT WEATHER.
. GOOD FRIDAY IN WELLINGTON. A jery large number of people left .Wellington on Thursday evening by the various trains. The- ordinary Main Trunk train had more than its • usual load of passengers, and the special, which was timed to leave at 8.55 p.m., was delayed owing to three additional carnages requiring to be attached. The officials at both the principal Government stations in Wellington had an extremely busy time. Incoming trains, particularly those from Auckland, were all crowded. The ordinary Main Trunk train from Auckland yesterday was more than two hours "late,-* owing to unusual traffic along the line. It was. not a pleasant day in Wellington. Rain commenced falling beforo daylight, and, driven by a heavy north-westerly wind, continued in deluging squalls until mid-day. After that, though tho wind continued, the rain cleared away. . Contemplated holiday outings were spoiled in most cases, but very few people would begrudge the district the much-needed rain. Unfortunately, the downpour seems to have been confined to the district immediately surrounding Wellington. Trams, harbour steamers, and suburban resorts suffered more or less in revenue. In this connection note may be mado of the fact that double fare, in consequence of the increased rate of holiday wages was charged on tho trams. .'■ ■
