To-day tho Hon. J. Carroll is in Auckland, the Hon. G. Fowlds and the Hon. A; T. Ngata arc also in Auckland; the Hon. J. A. Millar is in Wellington, the Hon. T. Mackenzie, in Otago, the Hon. R. M'Kenzie in Wellington, and the Hon. D. Buddo in Kaiapoi. Mr. J. L. Friedlander, of Chicago, who has been staying in Wellington tor the past few days, left for Sydney on Thursday night. From Australia ho proceeds to Africa, and will make the trip between the Victoria Falls and Egypt by camel train. The visitor has been travelling round the world for somo months, and was in Tokio when tho "Yoshhvaru" Quarter of that city was totally destroyed by fire a few months ago. In the Law Society's examination results published in the "London Times." of February 18, appears the name'of Mr. Bert. Bryant, son of Mr. F. Bryant, formerly of Palmerston North, and now of Tunbridgo Wells, England. The young New Zealarider was amongst the four who secured firstclass honours. He also was awarded tho John Mackrell price as tho best practical lawyer out of 150 entrants, and the Kent Law Society's prize. Thus, of five prizes offered, Mr. Bryant secured two. It is expected that he will be visiting New Zealand next month.
On severing his connection with the Wellington Moat Export Company after 15 years' service, Mr. Goo. Sinclair was the recipient of several tokens of regard from the various departments. Mr. Sinclair has been appointed head stevedore for the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company in Wellington. Col.-Sergt. J. V. Scott, of tho Gis-l-criio Rifles, is leaving by the Arawa on Thursday to join the Coronation contingent. Messrs. C. E. Daniell and J. C. Ewington, of Masterton, and M. W. A. M'Farlane, of Pahiatua, have been nominated for tho two Wairarapa seats on tho Wellington Harbour lioard. Our Mas terton correspondent adds that, as tho county elections fall on a different day to tho municipal elections, the poll in tho country districts is likely to bo very small. Messrs. D. M'Laren, M. J. Rcardon, E. J. Carey, and W. T. Young left last evening for Christchnreh, where they will represent the Wellington Trades Council at the Dominion Trr.dcs and Labour Council annual conference. Messrs. D. M'Laron and W. H. Hampton are to represent the local branch of tho Labour party at the party congress which is to sit during the next lew days at Christchurch. Licenses have been issued by the Surveyors' Board to the following surveyors :—John P. Larkin, To Kuiti; Roland E. Fry, Auckland; John D. Jack, Wellington; Robert M. Mlver, Christchurch ; Harben R. Young, Assoc. M. Inst. C.E., Wcstport; Hugh M. Thompson, Hokitika; William I'. Black, Duncdin; Robert M. Mowat, Wairoa (H. 8.). Tho members of tho George Marlow Dramatic Company, which is to commence a season at the Opera House this evening, arrived from Auckland yesterday. Mr. Stanley Grant is manager. The death occurred yesterday at Clyde, Central Otago, of Mr. Jeremiah Bradley, son of Mr. John Bradley, of Wellington. Mr. Bradley, wiio was only twenty years of age, was employed in the engineering branch of tlie Public Works Department, and left for Central Otago a few weeks ago for tho benefit of his health. Complications following on an attack of entoric fever, however, caused a relapse, and lie passed away as stated above. Deceased, who was an ex-member of tho Oriental Football Club, was a popular ycum; man. and his early death will be widely regretted. .The interment will take place in Wellington. On Thursday afternoon at Damievirkc there was a largo gathering of townspeople and country settlers, when Mr. Paton, who has boon stationmaster thero for ten years, and who recently retired on superannuation, was presented with a purse of sovereigns (£156) as a mark of appreciation and esteem. Tho presentation was made by the Mayor, while Mr. F. G. Cowper also spoke on behalf of country settlers. Mr. Paton, before coining to Danncvirke, was j well-known railway official in Otago. Press Association." Mr. Henry Snow has been appointed draughtsman and computer in the Lands Department.
