KAIRANQA COUNTY COUNCIL. . 4 The monthly meeting of (he Kairanga County Council was held this week, Present- "Councillors M. Mcorly (chairman), A. K. -Alayo, W. }\~. Wisher, l<. E. Bryant, L. O'Loiighlin, C. Colli?, and C. Messrs. Tanner Bros, and G. Green wrote, complaining of the dangerous stale of No. 1 Hue, Longburn, owing to spoil from a drain being thrown on to side of the road.—Referred to Ihe Drainage Board. Mr. E. 'W'oods's request that Ine metalling of Richardson's Line, from Paul's to Milson's Line, should lie considered when the estimates were framed, was agreed to, and it was also decided to consider a similar request from Mr. A. Guy in regard to metalling on Gillcspie's Line. A deputation of settlers from Collcgs Street.West waited on the council wilh reference to having that street continued through to Maxwell's Line, aud offering to contribute ..EM towards the cost.—The council decided to subsidise this amount to the extent of £ii). Councillors Bryant, Mayo, and Voss were appointed to represent the council on the deputation lo the Minister for Public "Works, to ask the Government lo -take over the maintenance of the Mnnawatu Gorge Road. Councillor Colli* called attention lo the want of fencing between the railway line and the Longburn Road to Palmcrston. I He said that cattle often got on the line, and, as the express trains travelled at a very high rate of speed along that, porlioii of the line, there was danger of n serious accident.—Tt was decided to ask Mr. D. Buick, M.P., to urge on the Government the necessity ol having the line fenced. ■ The lender of J. }\. Bennett, .E2O Ifo., for timber for decking Awahuri Bridge, was-accepted. II was decided to put on an extra man for a month 'in the Mangaone Eiding.
