Ihe iollowmg motions were agreed to at, tho meeting:—That the clerk atrange with Inspectors Sinclair and Uttle to fix a day for poisoning rabbits throughout the county, and to advertise that poison will ho given free to any ratepayer who applies for it. That the action of Councillor Morton and tho engineer in accepting Jensen's tender for metal on Bryce's road be confirmed, lhat the engineer be instructed to nave the metal pit in front of Campnn s property on Sinclair's line cleaned out, to enable the travelling public and settlers to get their stock there without being bogged. That Mr. J. R. -MLonnan bo asked to represent tho council on tho Assessment Court; failnig his consent, the chairman to make an appointment. That Mr. R. Hamond s request for permission to put a gate on the Peka road be granted, ihat this council consents to execute tho transfer of tho road line from Mr R M'Beth to the council, as requested by Mr. b\ F. Haggitt. That tho eni;i..;eor bo instructed to have tho bad points on the Peep-'o-Day and Kiwitealapua Road taken off as soon as pos-s-liic, payment to be mado from tho Ulance of the Hill loan. That the reso lution of February 18, 1911, making the cost of taking off tho corners on the Knvitea-Tapuae Road a charge on tho general rates, be rescinded. That Mr. Hugh Roes be asked to refer his claim for damages caused by roadmen ngnting fires along the front of his property to the contractor, Mr. Lehrke. The county treisurer, Mr. L. J. Verry, reported that the amounts col-lw-tod since last meeting were: Rates £3 3s. Bd.; dog tax, etc., £96 4s. • The amounts to be paid out were: County fund account, £1490 17s. 4d.; loan account, £107 19s. 4d.; land fund account No. 2, £11 ss. 6d.; cemetery account, 10s.; total, £1610 12s. 2d." The county fund account stands in credit at the hank at £323 11s. od. Of a. total of £5055 13s. 3d. general rates struck, tho whob had been collected except £1 11s. 7d.

The annual meeting of the Foilding Hockey Club was poorly attended. Mr. D. Frascr was elected to the chair. Messrs. Gould and Fisher attended the meeting as delegates from the newlvformed St. Paul's Hockey Club. -The secretary, in his report, stated that last season the club entered two teams for the Manawatu Association competition, and also played friendly games with the Old Boys (Palmerston), Marton, and United (Wanganui). At the previous annual meeting Mr. M'Corkindalo donated a medal for tho most improved player for tho season, and Mr. A. G. Walkor donated a hockey stick for the player who attended the most practices. The thanks of the club were accorded to tho Feilding Jockey Club for use of ground and to the Feilding Football Club for uso of material. The report was adopted. Mr. Robson, secretary of the Halcombo Hockey Club, wrote that his club would join a district association if ono were formed. Mr. H. Hill, owing to not , living in. the town, handed in his resignation as secretary. A hearty voto of thanks vas accorded him for his services and ho was elected an, hon. member of the club. Mr. Brehnand was appointed secretary pro tern, , and was instructed to apply for the use of the South Street Reserve for hockey on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The medal presented by Mr. M'Corkindalc for the most improved player was awarded to H. Hill, and the stick presented by Mr. A. Walker to W. Burnett. The election of officers was held over. Tho proposal to form a district association" was held, over for a meeting at which the country clubs will be represented. CARTERTON. At a local meeting of those interested in boxing some 21 names were handed in for membership of a sub-association, and a committee was appointed to arrange for the uso of the Fire Brigade Hall. It was also resolved to endeavour to secure the use of the gymnasium, Mr. A. P. Whatman expressing the opinion that, if it could be floored, it would be tho best room in the Wairarapa district. As an incentive towards having a floor put down, he would willingly give a donation of £20 for the purpose. The active membership fee was fixed at £2 25., and £1 Is. for honorary members. Mr. 'I. H. Hughes wns elected secretary and treasurer. Thn classes begin next week. Mr. N. Halse, of the local branch of the Bank of New South Wales, is at present absent on a month's holiday leave. Mr. W. Redmond has donated two guineas to the funds of the Cartc-rton I Football Club. . To-day four rinks of bowlers from the Carterton Club will visit tho Hutt to engage the local club. An Easter tournament will take place on the Carterton green. A local cricket team is visiting Mangatainoka to meet a team there. The visitors are:—M'Konzie, Churchill, Lindop, Phelps, Williams, Beard, Walker (2), Fairbrothcr, and Smith. REIKORANCI. Local riflemen fired this week in tho eleventh competition for the Elder Cup. There was a Rood attendance at. the "social" held in the Druids' ILill ou Tuesday evening under (lie auspices of the local Literary and Debating Societv. A number of now members was elected. In tho absence of the Rev. .T. A. M'Kenzic, who has been appointed io the charge of tho Presbyterian Church, and who was the founder of the society, it. wns decided to leave over the election of president till the next meeting of the society. Tour competitive debates will be held during the session. Mem bars must lake part iii throe before their speeches can count. Mr. A. Snunders will oppose Mr. Trainer, who will move; "That Literature is a, Greater Educative Influence than Travel." The vocalists wore. Mrs. Oibson, Misses Laurvig, and Asquith, and Messrs. Marshall and Perry. Mr. Galland Rave a readme, and Mr. Tr.iiner contributed a recitation. In tho "Fan Race." Miss F. Diinckley Rained premier honours for tho !adie=, nnd Mr. Law won the gentleman's prize. In tho "celebrities" competition Mrs. Gibson nnd Mr. Galinnd scoured tho prize?, and-in the charades, Ln which Miss Monttath, Messrs. Clayton, nnl Tilling took part.
