MILKING COMPETITION.

One of, the fcalnres of. the recent Apitl Show was the milking cow competition, for • which ten cows were entered. • The points, were, awarded as follow:—One point .'for "every 101b. of milk, 25 points for every lb., o'f. but.ter-fnt, and one point for every ■ •..tn days since . tho cow . had calved. The "Star" adds: "Stewards of. the society visited each..farm in the entry, and saw the competing cows milked; nest morning and evening the cows were again milked, and that day's milk ■ was the subject .of the competition. Although the first, cow was low in the teat, it won because of tho number of days-it had teen in milk (over 200), from August till , March, and cows calved much later yielded no' more milk. . . ■. The cow with tho highest test (5.C) only yielded threefourths of the quantity of niilk, and .had only been in half the tinie of the winner. Jfr. Allwood, the Apiti dairy factory manager, acted as judge."
