CHURCH OF ENGLAND MEN'S SOCIETY.
TITE COMING CONFERENCE. Tho second animal New Zealand Conference of the Church of England .Men's Society is to he held at Christehureh on April 19 and 20. The arrangements are being made by the iiev. J. D. Russell, of l'etone, who is jjeneral secretary. The Bishop of Christelnirch (Dr. .Jiilfus) is to preside, and upwards of 100 delegates will 1)3 present from all parts of the Dominion. Besides the general secretary and Mr- AV. Nash (the Diocesan secretary) delegates will be sent from St. Paul's, St. Peter's, St. Mark's, St. Thomas's Brooklyn, Kilbirnie, Karori, Khautlallah, Petone, and Lower Jlutt brandies in and around Wellington, as well as from various branches in this and every diocese in New Zealand. There me now 111 branches and nearly 2100 members of the CMC.M.S. in the Dominion. The following ''is the conferenco order paper: — Report and financial statement by act-ing-general secretary. Work.— (1) United .action regarding gambling, ('-) united action regarding social purity, (3) C.IUI.S. Institutes at military camps, (.() junior branches: Work among boys, (5) laymen's missionary movement.
Federation and organisation.—(l) Dominion executive and finance, (2) general travelling secretary, (3) rule?, (I) probation of branches and members, (5) registration mid commendation by member?, (ti) registration of badge, (7) badge and certificate, whose property and when to bo surrendered, (8) annual renewal of membership, (!!) non-parochial branches, (10) next annual conference—representation and place of meeting.
Literature, etc.—(l) Dominion supply, (2) Australasian men's magazine—Dominion supplement.
In addition to the above there will be a devotional service with address by the Lord Bishop of Christchurch at the Cathedral; a mass meeting for men, in Ihe Choral Hall; and a garden ■ party for delegates at Bishopscourt. The Kev. J. D. Russell, of Petone, who has been appointed to the parish'of St. Luke's, Oainaru, has taken a very keen and practical interest in the work of the C.73.J1.5., and his departure will leave a gap which it will bo hard to fill.
