The produce year terminates on -September 30, but the Department of Agriculture, Commerce and Tourists takes March 31 for the close, probably because that is the close of the financial year for the Treasury. The totals show a decline o[ £94,105 as cotppared with. 1910. It is small, but significant, as showing that the limit ot high values has been reached for the time being. The dairy industry shows (he substantial increase cf £280,116, the totals being X3.1C0.684. as . against .£2,820,£68. The improvement is thus equal to about- 10 per cent. The values of butter and chcese exports during the past five years weve as under:—

The values of the exports have nearly trebled in four years. In 1903 the value nf the chcere exported from New Zealand was only £181,604. while butter accounted for £1,268,759. The frozen meat trade shows a, sain of £7f8.185 on the yoir. the totals bcins: 170,944, as against £3,392.759. There were increases under every head. Wheat and oats exhibit -shrinkages, the figures relating to the former "being less by £79,605, while the decline in the value of oats exported is as much as £417,190. the actual figures being £31,436. as against £448,626. There are increases ill hemp, rabbits, tow, hops, hides, skins, tallow, and timber, and decreases in kauri gum, grain and pulse, wool and gold. The decrease in wool is marked, amounting, as it docs, to £747,231. The Frozen Meat Trado Association's Smithfield market Quotations for the undermentioned classes of frozen meat are based on actual sales of not less than one hundred carcasses of mutton or lamb, or twenty-five cjua.ri.ers of beef of fair average quality. The quotations arc not for selected' lines, but for parcels fairly representative of the bulk of tho shipments now on the market. The prices which follow are on an average a farthing per lb. more 'than the value ex ship, this difference representing an average cost in expenses, handling, conveyance, and selling tho meat:—

No change in prices, viz.Canterbury, 3£d.; North Island, SJd.per lb: Lamb.—The market is firmer, and there is a better demand, although arrivals are very heavy,, and stocks are accumulating. Beef.—There has been no alteration in the beef market since last week, viz.-.-N.Z., hinds, 4Jd.; fores, 3Jd. per lb. Butter.—The market is firm for best quality; a dull, market for second-class quality, of which present supplies exceed the requirements. Choicest New Zealand butter, 108s.; Australian, 1025.; Danish. 1205.; Siberian, 104s. per cwt. Cheese.—The market is very firm, and the.re is a general and active demand. New Zealand cheese, 625. per cwt.
