GOLF.
. MIEAMAR CLUB OPENING. Perfect weather and a very large gathering of members and visitors characterised the opening of tho iliramar Golf Club's season on Saturday afternoon. The various competitions aroused great enthusiasm, and, taken all round, the afternoon passed off very pleasantly. Tho following are the results of the competitions:—
In iho ladies' approaching and putting competition four ladies tied, these being lli==es Ward, Didsbury, Pdchardsou, and Raw Eon. Miss Didsbury won in the play-off.
Ladies' driving.—Miss Didsbury, 1; Mrs. Firth, 2; Miss Doughby. 3. Men's approaching and putting.—Mr. Horton.
Men's driving.—Mr. Mills, 1; Mr. Hor ton, 2.
HTJTT CLUB. The monthly Silver Button competition, under tho auspices of the Hutt Club, resulted in a win for L. D. Hurst, with .i net scoto of 77. Ho was followed by C. G. Allan 79, R. O. Chcsnev 81, E. Abbott 81, and C. A. Treadwell 82.
