FEILDING. For the sixth time Bartholomew's rink (Thompson, Clapham, Stewart, and J. Bartholomew, skip), playing on Saturday afternoon, defended the Dixon Cup against a challenging rink. This time the invaders came from the Terrace End Chili, Palmerston, and comprised Harris, Everett, Turner, and Sollitt (s.). The visitors put up a splendid game from the start, drawing first blood on the first head, leading by five on the fourteenth head, and keeping the crowd guessing until Bartholomew had fired his last shotin tlio twenty-first head. At the twentieth head the score was ITeilding 15, Terrace End H, and the Palnierstonians were lying 2. When Bartholomew got liis last shot away, he took the kitty back for two, and an exciting game ended 17 to 14, and Feilding still keeps the 'trophy. The contractors had just pitched tents on the ground to clear it when a fire started, and burnt the lot.
The country in and around Rewa is looking much better already for the recent welcome showers. Cricket teams from the Feilding and Manawatu Gentlemen's Clubs tried conclusions on tho racecourse on Saturday. Feilding won by 22 runs. A week ago Saturday the Oroua (Foilding) Tennis Club's junior team was beaten by the Terrace End (Palmerston North , ! juniors.
