Templars Cricket Club (runners-up) ■forwarded a very graceful letter, m which they congratulated the club on its success,, and, on. the gentlemanly manlier in which they had tontested their games. In'proposing'the toast of the "Catholic Young Men's Cricket Club,"'the chairman' (Mr. S. Moran) warmly' cpngratulatcd membei's on the season's work. They had always pulled together, both on and off tho field, , and they'thoroughly deserved their success. 11l replying -to' the t-oast of- "Tho Eunners-up" (proposed by Mr. Carrolt), .Air. Wright, captain of the Templars' Club, also paid a tribute to the conduct of members of the G.C.C. They had; he said',, proved •• themselves good sportsmen, ahd worthy opponents, andhe looked forwai'd with '.'pleasure to meeting them when tho - -cricket season came Tound again. Mr. Crombi'e. 'in responding to the toast of tho. "Wellington Cricket Association," stated 'that this season's cricket had not been as brilliant as previous years, owing to tho lack of visiting representative teams, but Wellington cricket was advancing. This was instanced by tho fight put lip against' tho Auckland eleven. Tho-following was tho toast list: — "The Wellington Cricket 'Association," Mr. Finnigan; "The Cricket Club," chairman; "The llunnors-up," Mr. Carroll; "Wellington Catholic Club," Mr. P., J. M'Oiovern; "The Umpires," Mr. Casey; "The Barrackms," Sir. O'Sullivan; and "The Press," Mr. G. Dee. During the evening songs were contributed by Messrs. ICeaney, F. Eller, G. Reado. 0. Foot'e, P. G. M'Govern, and Gamble. •• W.. Warne was -presented with -agold medal for tho highest batting average, and P. Toms with a silver, cigarette case for...the next best average. J. • O'Dowd and L. Carroll also received presentations for- obtaining the best bowling averages.
