MOT FOR NOTHING.
The social functions which constitute a London season are not carried through successfully without considerable expenditure of money, thought, and time. A party for 250 people is by no means uncommon. The caterer's bill for such a number might be between £125 and £500, according to the quality of the wines. A florist's account ivill range from £50 to £150; the hire of an orchestra, printing invitations and programmes, "supporting" the dancing floor, and other incidentals bring the cost of an ordinary society danco to something like £700.
