Mackenzie, Minister for Agriculture, who made a motor-car journey from New Plymouth to Mokau River this morning, intending to return ■to-night to Inglewood, is weatherbound at Mokau, rain having made the roads unnt for the return journey. He will proceed ■tfAnorroS to" fe , 'KfliU VttK Mr. AY. T. Jennings, M.P. The Minister and party ascended the Mokau. River ;under spiendid conditions as far as the coal-mines. Mr. Mackenzie declared, the scenery to bo the most magnificent ho had seeii in New Zealand, greater even than _ thn scenery of tho famous Wanganui River. He made a.non-committal reply to deputations requesting'greater financial assistance in, tho development of the. tourist traffic on the Mokaii River, and in reference to the preservation of the scenery along its banks.
