AN APPOINTMENT.

ASSISTANT-REGISTRAR OF UNIVERSITY. Mr. E. T. Norris, M.A., who was selected out of 43 applicants by the University Senate on Saturday as AssistantKegistrar of the University, took his degree in 1802. Since theii he has been engaged in teaching in secondary schools, but has also acquired considerable knowledge of business matters and methods by a wide and varied experience. Ho was the first secretary of the Canterbury College Graduates' Association, secretary of the committee concerned with tho establishment of the Macmillan Brown memorial prize, and in 1899 was president of the Canterbury College Dialectic Society. Mr. Norris forwarded to the Senate a largo number of valuable -testimonials. Since 1907 ho has been first assistant in the Ashburtoii High School.
