Compared with January sales, choice Gcelong combings were a penny dearer, Rood creasy combings ancl good scoured 7i per cent, to 10 per cent, higher, faulty carbonising sorts, 5 per cent, higher, fine crossbreds % per cent, higher, and other sorts fully 5 per cent, higher. Crossbred lambs 10 vsv cent, and merinos sto 7i pen cent, higher. Of the ouantity said 120,000 bales were taken by the Homo market. 72,000 bales by the Continent, 3CCO balea to America, and 38.C00 bales are held over. The following are prices realised for the fleece portions of the clips named: "Waiau." top price 9id.. average 9M-; "Bryo," lCd. top price, average 9Sd.; "Poporangi," top price Is., average 9§d.: "Wharanui," top price 13d., average 103 d.; "Waretau." top price 16d., average 14d. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd.. have received the following cablegram from London, under date March 3i:—The 6alos have closed with a firm market, and prices as 'compared with the closing rates of last series, are 5 per cent, higher for merino, fine and medium crossbred, whilst coarse crossbred is 7Jd. per cent. up. Tne wheat market his weakened in sympathy with the Australian market, and'the volume of business passing has been much smaller than in the previous week. Velvet has been sold at 3s. and 3s. Old. net. and 3s. Id., less commission, all at country stations. For redchair the prices given have been 3s. net and 3?.. less commission, at country stations. In all cases tuscan changed hands at 35., less commission, at, country stations. No business h;.5 been cone in oats or potatoes.
