Sir, —I, A. Hardcastle, allowed one of my staff, on his own instigation, not to have liis half-holiday one week, as ho wanted a full day the next week. I agreed to it. Consequently the Labour Department stepped in. I received a summons to attend tho Court, with the result I liad to pay 12s. fine. I ask tho public generally if this thing is going to be carri«l on. will not God's Own Country bcconie the Devil's Home Country?—l ain, etc., A. E. HARDCASTLE.
