The bronze panels for Tamahau Jlahupuku's monumont not being ready in timo for tha unveiling ceremony, which took placo yesterday, temporary plastercasts were substituted. One of the panelspaces was empty. The reason was that the panel as designed contained portraits of people who are still living. This offended the susceptibilities of some of the Maoris, and, at their instance, the pane! has meantime been withdrawn. For its central feature the panel has an incident of the Diamond Jubilee year, in which the late Tiight Hon. K. J. Seddon and Tamahau Mahupuku were the leading actors, but, as stated, living people are also represented, among them the Hon. James Carroll (Acting-Prime Minis, tei).
