ANNUAL MEETING. l i Tfc ?,. f S onfl an »«''<i general meeting of the Wellington Orphans Club was held at the Grand Hotel last ■ evening. Dr Arnold Izard presided. Colonel Collins and Mr. A. R. Hislop, vice-presidents, were also present. There'was an ' "attendance of about ono hundred members In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, the chairman commented upon the-success of the past season. Beginning as a now club, there was now a membership of close on two hundred, whilst, there was a sufficiently largo credit balance to gratify the incoming committee. The'following officers were " ele-ted — Patron, Sir , Joseph AVard, K.C.AI.G.; president, Dr. Arnold Izard; vice-presi-dents, Colonel Collins, Messrs. R J Jloran. 11. C. Tewsley, and A. R, Hislop; committee. I.'essrs. Piggin, F. Thompson, &. Christie, M. J. O'Reilly. R, T! Robertsou, H. AV. Airey, Echlin. and E. A. Batt; secretary; Mr. E. A. Kcenan; treasurer, Mr. P. J. M'Gpvcrn. In dealing with the work of tho outgoing committee, the chairman • made special mention of tho inraluablo services of the secretary, Mr. Kcenan. It was pleasing to know that Mr. Kcenan had seen his way to accept office for the forthcoming season. The chairman's remarks were endorsed by members present. Suggestions were then received with respect to the securing of suitable premises during tho forthcoming sea=on. Tt was generally accepted that the old rooms were far too small, and that more commodious premises were necessary if the increased membershin was to- bo 'adequately catered for. The. matter was' eventually left in the hands of the incom-; ing committee.
