. » REV. J. PATTISOJJ'S ITINERARY. The following itinerary has been arranged for the Rev. J. Pattison (Presbyterian Assembly's evangelist) :— April 5-9—Featherston. April 23-Mav 1— Pahiatua. 11 ay 10-24-Dunback. May 2S-Juno B—Kaiapoi. June 11-22—Lceston. July 2-13-Mavfield. July IG-27—Scfton. Julv 30-August 10—Rangiora. August 20-31-Porucll. Auckland. September 6-17 —Matamata. The convener of the Evangelistic Committee states:—"Applications for Mr. Pattison's services have been received from ,i number of other places, but they have reluctantly been declined, as it was impossible for the evangelist to visit these centres at the time desired—mid-winter. 1 can see there may be some' difficulty in arranging work for Mr. Pattison during the summer months. I hope ministers and sessions will realise this by co-oper-uting with the committee so that tho evangelist may not be idle."
The generosity of Lore) Strathcona, Iligh Commissioner for Canada, to distressed Canadians in England, was shown at Westminster Police Court, when Emily St. Leger was charged with obtaining money from him by fraud. Lord Strathcona's secretary produced several letters in different names, hut apparently in the same handwriting, which had been received during the last three months. The first letter, signed "Florence E. Wilson," represented that the writer, a Canadian, was destitute, a long illness having swallowed up her little savings. Lord Strathcona immediately sent a .£5 note to the address givon in I'ortouollo lioad. Later a letter was received signed "Agnes M'Coll." Assistance was implored for a widow who, it was stated, had married in Canada, and had lost her husband in Knp'sm! after having failed in business in Quebec; £1 was sent iu response to this appeal.
