THEATRICAL POSTERS CRITICISED,. (By Teleeraph.-Prfcss Association.) Auckland, March 29. A rather unusual communication has been forwarded to the Mayor of Auckland pertaining to the nature of certain pictorial posters with which Mr. George MarlcVs company lias billed its hn>t production, "The Bad Girl of the" Family. Tho letter is as follows:His Worship tho Mayor. Sir,-In the interests of tho stuoV cuts and pupils of both sexes attending our respective institutions wo desire to make an emphatic protest against the pictures that arc at present exhibited oh a hoarding close to the Public- Library in AVellcsley street, as purporting to represent scenes for a play now being Staged here. In bur opinion they are a dishonour to womanhood, and have a .' demoralising influence- on the voung people of this city. Wo think the tinio has come when all such pictures should be submitted to a public censor, and we ask you to use your influence with the proper authorities to have steps taken that will prevent such exhibitions 'in 'Hie future. The communication is signed by Messrs. J. AV. Tibbs (headmaster of Auckland Grammar School), G. George (Director of Technical Education, Auckland), H. ' A. Milnos (Princinal of tho Training College), and H. C. Cousins (headmaster of tho Normal School.) The pictures in question aro shown on most of the hoardings in the city and suburbs'.-' They dctiict a. number of girls in night attire attacking with pillows two or three policemen who have entered the dormitory" to arrest ono of the female characters.
