WHERE IS IT FROM ?
CHAOS AT THE PARCELS OFFICE. A resident of the suburbs, who has occasion to make use ot the railways parcels office, says that the manner in which that department is run would be laughable if it were not so serious to tho general public. "Da you know what happens down there?" said our informant. "They have no system worth the name, (ind when you ask for the parcel which you know has been sent down from ono the shops, they say—'Where.is it from—lvirk's, Veitch and Allan's?. After you have indicated where the parcel has come from they ransack the parcels, following the label as a means of identification. Ono would think that there would bo. some kind of alphabetical system in the office, but that does not exist. There is a pile of parcels from Kirkcaldie's, and there is a pile from Veitch and Allan's, and so on, and one hap to wait for a distracted young mail to ranSaek for your particular parcel, while half-a-dozen wait as long as they can, and then bolt for the train." 1
