SAILING OX TUESDAY. Some time this evening a special train containing at least 160 draught horses should arrive in Wellington from Jlnnawatu.. The horses are to bo sent aboard the Whangape, which , sails for Australia to-morrow. Most of the shipment will probably bo heavy draughts,. as the demand in the wheat-growing districts of tho Commonwealth at. the. present timeis chiefly, for heavy sort?. , . It is understood that, the shipment is being made as the result of purchasing operations which have been conducted in this island for s.omo time by Messrs. Phillis Brothers (from Australia) and Jlr. E. D, Browne, -of Palmerstcn North. Koughly, tlie whole island (it is said) has been scoured for heavy horses, and, since January, 500 horses, ten pedigrco stallions, and about 70 pedigree mares have -been purchased.- A caunle of hundred out of ■the' total were .drawn from the Manawatu. Four hundred of the whole number are draughts, and the others threequarter and half draughts. " Twelve thousand five hundred pounds is set down as the value of the purchase. Tlie pedigree stallions purchased, it is reported, include Royal Crown, bought from Mr. Onghton (Okaiawa, Tarauaki); Koyal Black (from Hawera);. Blythe Ben (from Te Puke); Bonny Doon, and three yearlings froni Mr. W. B. V. Pearce, .of Kangiotu. Besides Messrs. Phyllis Brothers', big lot, Messrs. Hmilt and Sons, of Fcikling, are dispatching 154 heavy horses by tlie Whangapo. ■ Mr. J. D. Mitchell, the Taranaki breeder, is taking over a dozen heavy draughts of quality, and about, forty are being sent-up from tho South Island, i'ifty draught marcs and geldings ..are being shipped oh account of Messrs. Ward and M'Gaffin, of Hawke's Bay, and Mr. Anderson, of Pahiatua. is consigning seven, comprised of stallions and mares.
