RUNAWAY VICTORY.
PARRAMATTA HUNDREd. LIMIT MAN NEVER HEADED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyriclit (R«c. March 2G, 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, March 25. The filial for the Paramatta Hundred was rowed to-day. Oeorgo Day, F. S. Hagney, and W. Fogwell, originally handicapped at lfcccs., were virtual scratch in the final, and conceded tho following starts to the other nine that qualified:— ]•'. Matterson. 22secs., Norman Towns, 26 sees.; AY. Padclon, 27secs.; Tlico. Towns, 305CC5.; V. Simpson, 52sccs.; C. Mntterson, 57secs.; S. 11' Lean, 57secs.; AV. AVest, CO sees.; and AV. liipley, Gosecs. The following is the result:— AA'. Ripley, GSsecs 1 N. Towns, 26secs 2 F. S. Hagney, ISsecs 3 Riploy's generous allowance secured him a runaway victory. Nona of the other eleven starters ever had a look-in. Shaping well from the start, and going strong, Riplcy easily maintained the lead, finishing seven lengths to the good. Hagney and N. Towns made a good showing, being close together at the finish. Theo Towns was fourth. Fogwell (champion of the Northern Rivers) was disappointing, his poor effort being duo to indisposition, Other results were:— BEATEN SCULLERS' HANDICAP. M'Kinuon, <lSsecs 1 Messenger, 2Ssecs 2 J. Arnst, 26sec 3 Several slight mishaps occurred early in the race. Hopping turned turtle, and threw. Carter and Kemp out of the running. When they settled down, M'Kinuon took charge and was never headed. He won by two lengths. Arnst, shaping well, pushed Messenger close for second place. R. Arnst (world's champion) did not start. LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. Miss Kathleen Ryan, woman champion of the Manning River, was matched to row Miss Gertie Lewis, tho champion of Australia, for aside and tho women's sculling championship of Australia, aud to the stake money the Parramatta Handicap Committee added <£10, so that tho stake was .£3O. The race was rowed to-day, and resulted in a win for Miss Lewis.
