RAILWAY APPEAL BOARD.
THE CASE OF A CARPENTER. (By Telegraph.—Prose Association.) Dunedin, March 26. The Railway Appeal Board on Saturday concluded tho hearing of tho appeal of Peter Ireland, a carpenter at the Hillside works, against his reduction from first grade to second grade. Evidenco was called in rebuttal of a statement made on tho previous day by one of appellant's witnesses that Holder (foreman carpteutor) had, on a certain occasion, remarked {hat he had an object in view in reporting appellant, and that was to reduce, him. Holder (recalled) denied this statement, adding that what ho remarked was that ho had an object in view in reporting a certain incident in connection with Ireland's work lo the manager, meaning that he wanted lo substantiate Iris previous reports, After addresses bv tho representatives of tho parties tho Court rewmd its decision.
