It is stated that while the latter prico was rather low the price being asked to-day is having an influence on building progress in tho city. Tho builders are protesting against the increase, and are to hold a conferonco with representatives of tho brickmakers to-day to discuss matters,. and also to endeavour to come to some arrangement respecting a trade price for bricks. At present tho builder who buys 10,000 bricks cannot get them any oheaper than the man who buys 100 bricks. This, tho builders affirm, is contrary to tho general principle that obtains oleowhere.
