When tho curtain wont down after tho third act tho audienca hissed and shouted and refused to allow tho play to proceed. Men in tho audience eventually came io blows with a party of M. Gorky's friends, who attempted to applaud. Tho police had to clear tho house, and the play remained unfinished. Mr. George Stevenson has engaged Miss Phyllis Hopwood Foldi, tho clever musical monologist, who has just returned from a successful lour of London and the Continent, for a Now Zealand tour with his Musical Comedy Costume Company—"Tho Wanderers," a first-class combination of vocalists, musicians, dancers, and humorists. Tho Now Zealand tour will commence about Easter at Wellington, and tho tour will bo under tho management of .Mr. Alf, Linlcy, of Wellington.: . . Mr. Michael Joseph, who has not been to Now Zealand for several years, will pilot William Anderson's now dramatic organisation on its New Zealand tour, which commcnccs at Auckland on Saturday, May 9, in Walter Howard's fino romantic drama, ' 'The Prince aud .the Beggar Maid."-
