GRANT OP <£20,000 SOUGHT. By Telegraph—Frees Association—Copyricht (Rec. March 23, 11.10 p.m.) Sydney, March 23! ; A deputation, including tho Lord Mayor and a number of University professors, to-day asked Mr. Batchelor, Minister for External Affairs, for a Government grant of ,£20,000 towards Dr. Man-son's proposed Australian Antarctic, expedition. j Mr. Batchelor was sympathetic, but said ho did not expect such a. largo demand, as ho thought the amount to lie asked was .£IO,OOO. He promised to consult 'Cabinet in the matter and £<>o what could bo done.
