WHEN THE CORINTHIC LEFT.
SCENE LIKE A LONDON DOCK. Yesterday afternoon tho Glasgow Wharf, Wellington,' somewhat resembled a London dock at the time when an emigrant 6hip takes her departure for a distant land. The occasion was the departure of 3.M.5. Corinthic for London (and tho Coronation), and there were hundreds of sightpeers and friends of departing passengers to 'See .her away. The Corinthic had 266 passengers on her decks, and, as she moved slowly away from tho wharf well out into tho' stream, she presented a pretty picture, She was in beautiful trim, and looked every inch un ocean liner. ■ Long before the appointed hour of departure people were seen making for the wharf, and just before the vessel cast-off the scene was an animated and rather gay one. Dresses of all colours were in evidence, and hore and there the dark colouring of the men's suits added a touch of variety to the picture. Everybody, of course, was deep in conversation, the bustle was considerable, and, at tiinos, it was difficult to get along tho steamer's decks. One heard on all sides that folks were "off. to see the Coronation" and some were sad and some were ne . 9 , uiaiit standiug in thc- bows with a jovial expression on his bearded face, comraencoil to sing lustily, "Tako Me Home Again Kathleen." When ho got to tho end of the song he told the crowd on the wharf in an emphatic manner that he was going Home to "Old Ireland." •Vorv soon after the vessel s head hart turned down the harbour the crowd molted away, and the wharf which a few minutes before had been a scene of stir and excitement, assumed its normal aspect. _________
