BRITAIN'S BUTTER IMPORTS.
INCREASE OF 21.000CWT. LAST WEEK. Yesterday a Wellington merchant,' who has all aloijg contended that tho low price of butter just now is chiefly clue io the heavy shipments this year, showed a Dominion' representative a cablegram which 'stated'that the total quantity of butter imported by the United Kingdom during the week ending Saturday, March 18, was DS.OOOcwt. During the correspondin" week last .vear tho quantity was n,OOO cwt, so, this season's' period shows an increase of 21,000ewt. ■ The cablegram quoted New Zealand butter at 106s. and Banish at 121s.
