9 • I'UXBOURNE RIVER FATALITY. ■ (By' Telegraph.—Press Association.) . ■ ■ . Blenheim, March 23. At the inquest concerning the death of Hilliam Edwards, who was drowned in the Flaxbourne River on Tuesday, the evidence showed that deceased and several companions went bathing.- When his mates left deceased was still in-tho water, and as he did not return search was made and the body found in a deen hole, A verdict. of accidentally drowned was returned. Deceased had. been in Now Zealand only three months, having come from England. FOUND DEAD IN BED. Mrs. Mary Lane, 72 years of age, was found dead in bed yesterday, at the residence of her daughter at 10 l'irio Street. Deceased had ten suffering from heart trouble for some time past, and had been an out-patient at the hospital. She resided with her daughter at Pirie Street, and when retiring to bed at 8 o clock on Wednesday night complained of feeling unwell. She was discovered dead at 9 o clock yesterday morning. An inquest will be held at the. residence at 10 a.m. to-day.
