Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd. (Masterton brancn) .report having held their weekly sale in the s-olway yaraa on Wednesday, when they offered a yarding, of sheep and cattle weil iiDove advertised numbers. Buyers were present from ill parts of tno district, • and consequently (states the repart) we had practically a total clearance up to late'rates. Amongst our entry oi sheep was Messrs. Nitz Bros.' annual uraft of ewes, which as usual -were well competed (dr.''and brought'lds. lltt. 'ilic twotooth ewes on account of tlie same vendors brought 10s. to-10s: Zd.'-'Alco, on account oi Mr. W. Hoivard Booth we offered a liuo of 201) tv.-o-tooth ewes, which brought trom IZ3. 9d. to 13s. Id. In our cattle entry we ottered, iu conjunction -with the New Zealand Loan and .Mercantile Agency Company,. a line of 2C4 three, and faur-yc.ir steers, which were sold for £6 10s. 'ADDINCTOX STOCK SALE. - (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Clirisioliurch, Jfarcli 22. At Aldington live stock market- there ; were liirge entries of stock and a. snod attendance. Hood breeding owes sold well. Wethers-sold at late rates, but lambs were easier. Fat. lambs showed a further decline. and'fat cattle were also lower in price. The yarding of store sheep was a- largo one. ; thotigh not equal to last week's. The quality \y.?s better, and there were few oversea sheep offered. The principal portion was ewes, and these wero mostly of a. medium to a good class. The balance was made up of a few lots of wethers, and a. smaller proportion of lambs than for some time past. For the better class of ewes sales were effected at improved rates. WcthcTS showed no, change, but lambs wero very dull of sale, in sympathy with the decline in value of fat lambs. Two-tooth ewes made 13s. to 1/s. 4d.: others, from us. Ba.; good four-tooth halfbred ewes, to 16s. 9d.; sound-mouth ewes, Ss. to lis. 6d.; and six and eight-tooth ewes, 10s. £d. to 135.; forward lambs. 9s. to lCs. 3d.; medium sorts, 6s. to Bs. 6d.: inferior. ss. 9d.; and culls. 2s. upwards; forward wethers, 12a. to 135.; medium sorts. 10s. 9d. to lis. 6d.; .and small halfbreds, Bs. to 9s. 6(1. The entry of fat lambs was larger than last week, but the quality wa3 on tho whole very indifferent-, only a small proportion being well finished. The sale was a very dull one, especially after -some speculative buying closed, and a number of lots wero passed in. Prices wero easier all round, and especially for tho better class of, lambs. The range of prices was: 9s. 4d. to 14s. 7d.. and two extra prime lots made 16s. and 16s. sd. There was a large entry of fat sbr.cn. the ■greater port-ion of which was unfinished, and was sent into the market in conreduence of the shortage of feed. The few lines of prime wethers sold well, but barely un to late rates, aad prime ewes showed little change from last week's prices. All the unfinished lots of both wethers and ewes were easier, aged, ewes selling at much -lower rates than any previous sale this .season. A number of pens of these cheap ewes wero bought hv a grazier to place : on'turnips. Several large lines of prime .wethers that failed to reach the reserves were sent to tho factory on owners' account. The range of prices was:—Prime wethers, 15s. 6(1. to 19s. 6d.; extra, 25a.; others, lis. 9d. to 155.; nrime ewes, 12s. 6d,-to 15s. 7d.; medium, 9s. to 125.; aged and liprht, "Is. to Bs. 6d.; merino wethers, 7s. to 10s. od. There was a. yarding of 372 head of fat, cattle, of a very fair class. The. demand was very slack on account of the large entry and tho exceptionally hot weath-"-. Values declined about''ls. 6d. per IfOlb. Steers made £6 15s. to £11 12s. 6d.; heifers, £6.55. to £9 ss:; and cows, £5 10s. to £10, oquM to. prime 245. to ?.Bs.. medium 21s. 6d. to 235. 6(1.. and cow and inferior 18s. £d. to 21s. per 1001b. Veal calves made 14s. 6d. to £! 155., according to size and quality. "Dairy cows sold well, at £3 17s. Gd. to £9 15s. A medium yardinp of piss met with n, rather better sale than last week for 'l)aconers. Best porkers were easier. Chonper* made up to 705.; heavy baconors. 455. to 525.; and lighter, 35.?. to <os. (enuM to '4d.. per lb.); large r»orkers, 275. to 305.; and lip Mcv, to 255. (eoual to p?r lb.). Stare piss were dull of rale, tho larger sorts making 18s. to 225.: medium, Bs. to 173.; and weaiiers, 23. to ss. 6d.
BtJENSIDE STOCK MARKET. (By Telegraph.—Press Dunedin, March 2. Burnside stock market:—Fat cattle: A small entry of 102 was yarded, the quality being very good. Prices showed an advance of fully 10s. per head on last week's rates. Best bullocks, .£lO to £11: extra, to £12 55.; medium to good, £8 lCs. to £9 155.: light, £6 15s. to £7 10s.; best cows and heifers, £7 10s. to £3 10s.; medium to good, £6 to £7; light, £4 10s. to £5 10s.
Fat sheen: 22-.0 penned. The quality wan disappointing, very few good wethers or ewes being forward. Prime sheep were in demand, and sold fully un- to last week's rates, but light and inferior were not wanted. Best wethers, 18s. to 225.; medium to good, 14s. 6d. to 165.; lisht. lis. Cd. to 12s. fid.; best ewes, 143. 6d. to 17s. 6d.; medium, 10s. 6d. to 125.; inferior, 4s. 9d. to Bs. 6d.
Fat lambs: 2897 penned, the quality of which was only fair. Bidding was slack at, the start, but improved towards the finish. Price all through were firm at last week's rates. Best, 130. to 145.; extra, in 155.; medium to good, lis. to 12s. 6d.; ■iifflit and inferior, Bs. fid. to 10s. fid.
. Pigs: About ICO penned. Slips and suckers were almost unsaleable, and porkers .ind baco.ners showed a general dron owinc to tho hot weather. Suckers. 2s. to ~55.; slips, Bs. to lis.; stores, 18s. to 213.; corkers, 255. to 31s. 6d.; light baconers, 355. to 4is.; heavy, to 455.

Invercargill, March 22. One of tho most important sheep sales held during recent years in Southland was carried out to-day at Birehwood Estate, on account of the owner (Mr. W. Badger) having subdivided his property into dairy farms, and accordingly disposing of ail stock other than what was required for his homestead farm. In addition to 6707 Bomney cross flock ewes and lambs, 1409 stud Itomney rams, ewes, and lambs were submitted, and tho popular variety of tho breed was shown by the large attendance of agriculturists from various parts of tho South Island, and by the spirited bidding What i-s regarded as easily a record price for Southland was secured for ten twotooth stud Eonmeyewcs, by imported rams. These were sold at 7«gns. each to Mr. Carnegie Gardiner, of Ciifden, whilst Mr. Jas. Ritchie, of Nightcaps, paid sgns. per head for ten four and six-tooth animals of the same class. The sale in all produced a total of £6893 for slieep in addition to £148 for horses.
